Willie (Snr) initially started his career in the family business – Upington Hotel (Pty) Ltd – where he took over as Director after completing in- house training with the then newly formed Protea Hotel Group, to which the Hotel was Franchised in 1985. Today it is one of the oldest of these franchises within the now Protea by Marriott Group. During Willie’s Directorship further developments and investments were made in three hotels, cattle/lifestyle farm and commercial properties. Through Willie’s years of personal involvement in all aspects of the business, he has attained a skilled understanding of financial development and operational requirements within each of these sectors.

Willie, after successfully completing his BCom (Entrepreneurship) in 2017 at the University of the Free State, accepted the opportunity to join the family business as an Operations Manager, through these fundamentals aquiring skills in all aspects of the business. In 2021 Willie was appointed as a Director. He is involved in all aspects of the day to day running and decision making within all sectors of the Company. He actively seeks out investment and/or development opportunities within those sectors in which Company is presently invested.
